At an extended meeting of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan panel on March 5, the oil and gas industry's work in 2020 was summed up, and tasks for 2021 were outlined.
According to Energy Minister Nurlan Nogayev, the coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected the oil and gas industry's operation. In connection with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, since February 2020, the Ministry has a permanent operational headquarters for monitoring the situation with coronavirus infection, in which representatives of all interested companies participate. An operational summary of the situation on the projects is sent to the headquarters daily.
The Ministry reported that the operator companies have developed and approved action plans to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and ensure preparedness in case of a deterioration of the epidemiological situation. "Oil and gas companies have allocated about 16 bln tenge for social assistance. Thanks to our colleagues' dedicated work, the energy system of Kazakhstan has withstood the impact of the pandemic. Despite the virus, people continued to work at power plants, oil refineries, and oil fields, providing the country with the necessary energy, " Nurlan Nogayev said.
